Best Kept Secrets in South Central Austin
Brodie Springs is one of my favorite communities in Austin. Homes start in the low $400s and have a Tuscan/European flair. Unless you know where it is you would never know it existed. This small enclave of new/newer homes is minutes away from anything you can imagine. And if you work downtown it's a perfect option as it is probably 12 minutes or so away. But if it's shopping and convenience you are looking for Brodie Springs is less than 7 minutes to the new movie theaters on Slaughter and I35, less than five minutes to all of the stores on Brodie, less than five minutes to the closest grocery, restaurants etc. The community is in the Bowie High School district and acclaimed Baranoff Elementary School which received an Exemplary Rating in 2007-2008 School year.Independence The community of Independence is another gem for those that like charm. The price point here starts in the low 200's. The homes are in the Craftsman bungalow style and the community has a charming old style feeling. Independence is less than a mile from the West Gate shopping center with the popular Central Market and is very close to downtown Austin, makes this a perfect choice for young professionals, young families and retirees alike.
Shady Hollow Another gem in the South is the area of Shady Hollow. The name says it all as there are a LOT of trees in this area. Shady Hollow's most popular feature is the location, it is conveniently located close to shopping and downtown. The homes in Shady Hollow range from being older, built in late 70s, to new construction and everything in between. Kids in Shady Hollow are assigned to Bowie High School.
Stablewood at Slaughter Creek This Pulte community is located conveniently west of I35 just south of the new South Park shopping area. Minutes to downtown and the Airport make it a popular choice. But it's the towering oaks trees that set this community apart from many in this price point as the community is so pretty.
